KENYA CUMMINGS

SPECIAL PROJECTS + OPERATIONS MANAGER
Grenada

is an explorer + creator + artist + future biological anthropologist. She applies her creative talents and love of culture to the fostering of community in Little Caribbean, designing and coordinating events such as the recent Intern Takeover and an upcoming Little Caribbean’s 3rd Anniversary. These events are an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the richness of Caribbean heritage, to show people that Caribbean culture is so much more than carnivals. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York and Fairburn, GA, and with roots in Grenada, Cummings holds a BS in Anthropology with a minor in Biology.

PABLO SERRANO

ART DIRECTOR
Puerto Rico

is a photographer and artist with an affinity for design and architecture. With one foot in Puerto Rico and another in Little Caribbean, his work spans from homeland vernacular architecture studies, to materializing the visual identity of caribBEING’s ethos of Caribbean unity. Serrano is our chief exhibition designer and visual producer for caribBEING’s exhibitions, products, commerce, and events both digital and physical. His concepts and creative solutions help manifest this rich and provocative cultural enterprise. 

Serrano holds a BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He invests in Flatbush through creative work, community interactions, and the housing justice movement.

JANLUK STANISLAS

CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Guadeloupe

is anchored in a global Caribbean vision, and invested in building new visions of the Caribbean scene. He is best known for his production of music videos for major French-speaking Caribbean artists, but his vision breaks beyond the bounds of any particular genre. SLAS is a Founding member of the CNOUMENM collective, where he produced "TRAFIK D'INFO", an experimental shock short film and one of the first Caribbean science fiction films, and FAP FAP documentaries, cinéma vérité guerrilla films that embody his cinematographic aesthetic of Caribbean creative space.

TIARA TORRES

ARTS EDUCATION + CARIBBEING HOUSE COORDINATOR
Puerto Rico

is an artist + history educator from the Bronx. She holds a bachelors in Art History and Puerto Rican studies.  She is currently completing her MA at Hunter College with K-12 teaching certification. Torres has primarily worked as a museum educator for 8 years developing tour plans and lessons for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. As a community educator, she uses her platform to inform and engage in topics such as gentrification + land use policies, decolonization, and history centering BIPOC communities.

SHELLEY WORRELL

FOUNDER & CEO
Trinidad & Tobago

is a cultural entrepreneur born in NYC and raised between Brooklyn & the Caribbean, Shelley Worrell created caribBeing, spearheaded the designation and development of Little Caribbean, and is the head of Caribbean Partnerships for the US Department of Commerce. Worrell has produced 400+ immersive experiences in partnership with top corporations and cultural institutions including James Beard Foundation, Google Arts & Culture, Studio Museum in Harlem, and VoX Media. Her multi-platform & cross-cultural activations have been featured by Black Enterprise, NBC, and Hyperallergic; and she has been personally profiled in The New York Times and Good Morning America. Worrell holds a BA in Cultural Studies from CUNY, Brooklyn College and a MA in Media Studies from the New School.
