cULTURE
How do we have a Caribbean on our own terms after a difficult, divided history? Exploring all of our identities beyond the tourism complex means slowly bridging and decolonizing our collective Caribbean experience.
In practice, this was already innate in caribBEING’s growth: one-time experiences, site-specific installations, and providing alternative spaces for these conversations to happen.
COMMERCE
Handcrafted here and back home. cariBEING creates unique + unconventional collections for those who crave authenticity + cultural relevance + who support local ideas and makers.
COMMUNITY
In 2017 caribBEING spearheaded the naming of Little Caribbean to recognize, celebrate and foster the contributions of Caribbean-Americans in New York City and the neighborhood of Flatbush as a center for culture, community and commerce.
caribBEING is an inclusive hub for creativity featuring artists and makers from Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Martinique, France, Canada and others.
CARIBBEING HOUSE
caribBEING House is a unique and inspired multipurpose mobile art + cultural + market space that reflects the cultural heritage of Brooklyn’s Caribbean Diaspora.
CARIBPOLITAN
